Abstract
[Purpose] To investigate the expression of S100A4 protein in colon adenoma and colon carcinoma and their clinical significance.[Methods] The expression of S100A4 protein was detected by immunohistochemistry in 15 cases with normal intestinal mucosa,80 case with colon adenoma and 60 cases with colon carcinoma.[Results] There was negative S100A4 expression in normal intestinal mucosa. The positive expression rate of S100A4 was 16.25% in colon adenoma and 56.67% in colon carcinoma.[Conclusion] The expression of S100A4 protein is closely related to carcinogenesis and progress in colon adenoma and colon carcinoma.S100A4 protein is an useful marker to forecast the progress of colon tumor.
