Expression and significance of p16 protein in the colon carcinoma

Objective To research the expression and significance of p16 protein in colon carcinoma. Method ABC method of immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of p16 protein in the mucous membrane in colon carcinoma( n=10) and normal colon tissue( n= 25). Results The deletion rate of p16 protein expression decreased with the Duke's staging, and there was significant difference between diseased and normal colon membranes in respect of p16 protein. Conclusion Abnormality of p16 protein expression appears with development of colon carcinoma.The p16 protein deletion is related to Duke's staging and lymph node metastasis of colon carcinoma.
