STUDY ON INFLUENCE OF pH TO GERMICIDAL EFFICACY OF A COMPOUND DISINFECTANT OF TRICLOSAN AND ALCOHOL

Abstract

Objective To observe the influence of pH to germicidal efficacy of a compound disinfectant of triclosan and alcohol.Methods Quantitative germicidal test was used to observe the influence of pH to germicidal efficacy of the disinfectant to poliovirus and Escherichia coli.Results The concentration of triclosan and alcohol of the disinfectant A,B and C are the same.The pH Value of the three disinfectants was 3.23,4.32 and 5.10 respectively.The killing logarithm value of poliovirus in suspension by disinfectant A,B and C for 1 min was above 4.00,1.92 and 1.75 respectively.The killing logarithm value of E coli by five folds dilution of disinfectant A and B for 1 min was 7.12 and 2.04 respectively.The killing logarithm value of E coli by disinfectant C for 1 min was 2.00.Conclusion pH has significant influence to the germicidal efficacy of the compound disinfectant of triclosan and alcohol.The germicidal efficacy decreases when the pH value of the disinfectant increases.
