Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression heterogeneity of routine immunohistochemical markers in breast invasive ductal carcinoma. Methods One case of non-specific invasive ductal carcinoma was studied with histology and expression characteristics of routine immunohistochemical markers, followed by review of literature to investigate the heterogeneity of breast cancer. Results Three differentiation areas were observed under the microscope. There were obvious immunohistochemical phenotype differences in three areas.Pathological diagnosis of this case was invasive ductal carcinoma,non-specific,histological grade II.Immunohistochemical results(the whole slice) showed that tumor cells were ER +(80%),PR +( 1%),Her-2(2 +),Ki-67 +(20%),and p53 +(2%).Conclusion Breast cancer is a highly heterogeneous tumor in many aspects.Breast cancer diagnosis plays a vital role for clinical treatment options and prognosis evaluation in the individualized diagnosis and treatment.
