Abstract

Objective:To evaluate MR urography(MRU) in diagnosis of ureteral diseases of old people using lower strength MR.Methods:11 cases were found ureterectasis using ultrasound(US),but the intravenous pyelography(IVP) was failure or dissatisfied. All of the cases were required MRU with heavy T_2 weighted imaging(T_2WI) of single-shot fast spin echo(SSFSE) sequence. Results:There were 3 cases of ureteral carcinomas,7 cases of ureteral calculosis and 1 case of ureteral diverticulum. Conclusion:MRU is a new method in the obstructive lesions of the ureter. And it is a technique without injury, radiation and contrast medium.Especially,it is useful to old people with iodine sensitivity or renal insufficiency. There is clear superiority to other methods, and expresses higher value in clinical diagnosis and application.
