Abstract

Objective To investigate the distributions and drug resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii detected in our hospital. Methods Distributing conditions of Acinetobacter baumannii among clinical samples isolated by routine bacterium culture in our hospital from May 2005 to August 2006 were studied retrospectively, drug resistances were explored as well. Results 146 Acinetobacter baumannii were detected.Disuniting rates in clinical samples such as sputum, pharynx swabs were higher, which were 71.9%,19.2% respectively. The bacterial infection mainly occurred in ICU curing center, neurology and department of neurosurgery, the percentage was 48.6%,15.1%,and 8.2% individually. These strains were susceptible only to imipenem and meropenem, and the rate of drug-resistance to other antibiotics were all more than 70.0%.Conclusions Acinetobacter baumannii is one major kind of bacteria in nosocomial infection which causes respiatory infection especially to ICU patient and is highly resistant to a lot of antibiotics,so we should pay more attention to inspect bacteria resulting in hospital acquired infections and their resistance to antibiotics.
