The clinical of serum levels of β_2 microglobulin in non-Hodgkin lymphoma

Objective: To study the relationship between β2microglobulin(β2-MG) level in the serum and clinical features of NHL patient.Methods:Total of 58 NHL patients and 30 healthy volunteers were enrolled in the study,and their β2-MG levels were measured.Results: β2-MG levels in the serum of NHL patients before treatment were significantly higher than those of healthy controls(P0.05),the serum β2-MG level had no significance difference between high grade patients and intermediate and low grade patients(P0.05).The serum β2-MG level was found to be independently associated with age,stage,B symptom,extranodal involvement,bulky mass,PS,serum LDH and IPI(P0.05).The serum LDH was decreased in NHL patients responing to therapy(P0.05),the patients with normal serum β2-MG level got more complete remissions than the ones with elevated serum β2-MG level.Conclusion: Serum level of β2-MG shows the load tumor of NHL patient.The monitor serum β2-MG level in NHL patients combined with other clinical features is of practical value to predict the response to the treatment as well as prognosis.
