Abstract
AimTo observe the expression of CD44 splice variant V6(CD44V6) in human gastric carcinoma.MethodsParaffin embedded sections from 42 samples of gastric carcinomas were analyzed by immunohistochemistry for CD44V6 expression. Results Positive rate of CD44V6 expression was 69.05%(29/42).The expression of CD44V6 was closely related to tumor's invasion depth and lymphatic metastasis but not related to tumor's size and pathological grade.ConclusionsThe expression of CD44V6 correlates with the development, invasion and metastasis of gastric carcinoma. Determination of CD44V6 protein by immunohistochemistry might be useful in assessing tumor progression and lymphatic metastasis and in predicting prognosis of gastric cancer.
