Abstract
Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of Amlodipine and Benazepril in treatments of elder patients with mild to moderate primary hypertension.Methods Patients were randomly allocated into two groups, and each was administered either Amlodipine (5mg, n=39) or Benazepril (10mg, n=36) at 7 a.m. once daily. Patients' blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR),clinical symptoms and signs were recorded accordingly.Results Amlodipine and Benazepril were both effective on BP reduction, with low incidence of side effect. But Benazepril acted more rapidly than Amlodipine.Conclusion Amlodipine and Benazepril are both effective and well tolerated in elder patients with mild to moderate primary hypertension.
