Clinical Observation of Carvedilol on Chronic Congestive Heart Failure

Objective: To observe the curative effects of carvedilol on chronic congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods: Sixty three patients with CHF were randomly divided into control group and treatment group.The control group was given basic treatment,including diuretics,ACEI or ARB,cardiotonic drug,nitrate and so on.Besides basic treatment,the treatment group was also given carvedilol,with an initial dose of 5 mg,one time a day orally.After 2 weeks,the dose was doubled.After 12 months,the heart function,heart rate,left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),left ventricular end diastolic diameter(LVEDD),and 6 minute walk test were measured and compared between two groups.Results: There were significant differences in every observation index between two groups.Conclusion: For cases with CHF,on the basis of diuretics,ACEI and cardiotonic drug treatment,carvedilol can improve the heart function,reduce LVEDD,increase LVEF,and improve the life quality of patients.
