Combination therapy with hemoperfusion and hemodialysis for paraquat poisoning

Abstract

Objective:To observe the effect of combined use of hemoperfusion (HP) and hemodialysis HD in the treatment of paraquat poisoning.Methods:35 patients poisoned by paraquat were divided into three groups according they received different treatment.13 patients in the control group received routine treatment,10 patients in the first experiment group received routine treatment with HP,and 12 patients in the second experiment group received routine treatment with HP and HD.Their clinical data were analyzed and studied contrastively.Results:The survival rate of the poisoned ones taken by blood purification was significantly higher than that of the control group. And the death rate of those received routine treatment with HP and HD was lower than that of those received the other two ways.Conclusion:It is suggested that blood purification should be taken early to the severe patients poisoned by paraquat,and combined use of HP and HD is a good therapy for paraquat poisoning.
