Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the expression of CD44v6 and its clinical significance in Papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods: Immunohistochemical stain was used to determine the expression of CDD4v6 in biopsy specimen of 201 papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), 30 benign thyroid tumors(BTT), 30 normal control(NC).Results: 1. The positive rate of CD44v6 in PTC was 71.1%, it was significantly higher than that in BTT and NC (P0.01).2. The positive rate of CD44v6 in PTC with lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than that without lymph node metastasis. The expression of CD44v6 in PTC was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis (P0.01). The patients with CD44v6 positive had the high possibility of lymph node metastasis. Conclusion: It suggests that the expression of CD44v6 is correlated with the carcinogenesis, progression, infiltration and lymph node metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma,it can serves as important indicators for predicting lymph node metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma.
