Abstract
Objective To evaluate detecting tumor specific growth factor (TSGF) in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors. Methods Serum TSGF level of 102 healthy people, 376 cases of malignant tumors and 71 patients with benign lesions were measured with TSGF diagnostic kit produced by Fujian New Land Biotechnology (oLTD). Results The average TSGF value of patients with malignant tumors(69.0±12.8 U/ml) was significantly higher than that of the health people(53.2±5.4 U/ml) or patients with benign lesions (59.5±10.6 U/ml), respectively ( P 0.01). After effective treatment, the TSGF level of patients with malignant tumors(61.9±10.2 U/ml) decreased significantly ( P 0.01). However, the TSGF level (77.3±15.0 U/ml) increased remarkably in cases of recurrent or metastatic cancers and the positive rate reached 91.1%. Conclusion TSGF is an important marker for the early screening and monitoring of recurrence or metastasis of malignant tumors.
