Effect of Weipixiao on chronic atrophic gastritis rats with spleen deficiency

[Objective] To explore the effect of Weipixiao,a compound of invigorating spleen and removing blood stasis and toxic substance,on pathologic changes of gastric mucosal cells in preventing and treating chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG).[Methods] CAG model with syndrome of spleen deficiency was established by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine(MNNG) and irregular fasting combined with purgative drugs.Changes of gastric mucous atrophy and intestinal metaplasia in gastric mucous were observed with HE technique and immunohistochemical stain.[Results] Gastric mucous atrophy and intestinal metaplasia in gastric mucous of the model group were more than those of the normal group(P0.01);but decreased in the three different dosage of Weipixiao groups(P0.01).[Conclusion]The mechanism of Weipixiao is related to reducing the occurrence ratio of atrophy and intestinal metaplasia in the gastric mucous,reversing the atrophy of gastric mucous so as to impede ratio of carcinogenesis.
