Efffect of Weipixiao acting on Gastric Epithelial Intestinal Metaplasia in Chronic Atrophic Gastritis Rats

Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of Weipixiao on intestinal metaplasia in chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG) rats with spleen deficiency.Methods Spleen-deficiency CAG rat models were established by free intake of N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine(MNNG)solution,irregular diet,and qi-consumption and purgation method.After gastric gavage of Weipixiao 15g/kg,7.5g/kg,3.75g/kg for 12 continuous weeks,we observed the pathological changes of gastric mucosal intestinal and colonic metaplasia.Results The results of pathological examination showed no obvious changes in normal rats.But in rats of the model group we were found uneven focal distributed intestinal and colonial metaplasia in gastric mucosa,and Weipixiao in low-,middle-and high dose reduced the area of intestinal and colonial metaplasia to various degrees.Conclusion Weipixiao can reverse intestinal and colonial metaplasia in gastric mucosa,showing certain anti-CAG effect.
