An Analysis of Zhang Yan's Notion of the Lyric Style of Ci

To avoid the assimilation of Ci's with the poem,and to maintain the independent status and value of Ci,Zhang Yan emphasized the differences between Ci and poems.He thought the characteristics of Ci were mainly demonstrated in three aspects: the musicality of Ci,its edification to people's romantic sentiment and characteristic of affectionateness,and its unique language.
