Clinical Significance of Expression of nm23-H_1 and MMP-9 in Cervical Carcinoma

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of the expressions of nm23 H 1 and MMP 9 in cervical carcinoma.Methods Expressions of nm23 H 1 and MMP 9 in fifty five paraffin embedded specimens of surgical treated FIGO stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ cervical carcinoma patients were examined by using the immunohistochemistry method.Results The positive expression rates of nm23 H 1 and MMP 9 were 27 3% and 90 9% in the group with lymph node metastasis,respectively;while they were 59 1%,61 4% in the group without lymph node metastasis,respectively.There were significant differences in nm23 H 1 and MMP 9 between the two groups, P =0 041, P =0 032,respectively,while the expressions of nm23 H 1 and MMP 9 were not significantly related to the pathological type,grade,stage status.Conclusions The expression of some metastasis related genes can be used to estimate the metastatic potenciality and help for the adjuvant treatment.
