Abstract
Objective To detect the expression of the glucocorticoid receptor-α(GR-α) mRNA in healthy nasal mucosa of the inferior turbinate, middle turbinate and uncinate process and investigate the significance of GR-α in progression of nasal polyp. Methods The quantitative expression of GR-α mRNA in healthy nasal mucosa of the inferior turbinate, middle turbinate and uncinate process was examined by using Fluorescent quantitative PCR(FQ-RT-PCR).Results The GR-α mRNA level in normal mucosa of inferior turbinate((135.4)±(5.2)×10~4 copy/μg) was significantlyhigher than those of middle turbinate and uncinate process((115.9)±(5.5)×10~4 copy/μg,(113.4)±(6.1)×10~4 copy/μg)(P(0.01)).Conclusion Lower expression of GR-α mRNA in middle turbinate and uncinate process might be related to the progression of nasal polyp which often originates from ostiomeatal complex.
