Observations on the Analgesic Effects of Pricking-cupping Bloodletting and Electroacupuncture in the Acute Stage of Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Herniation

Objective To investigate the analgesic effects of pricking-cupping bloodletting and electroacupuncture in the acute stage of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.Method Seventy outpatients with acute lumbar intervertebral disc herniation were enrolled and allocated to pricking-cupping bloodletting plus electroacupuncture and electroacupuncture groups.The course of treatment was within 15 days.The pre-and post-treatment Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) pain scores and the post-treatment marked efficacy rates were compared between the two groups.Result Both pricking-cupping bloodletting plus electroacupuncture and electroacupuncture were effective.There was a statistically significant post-treatment difference in the VAS score between the two groups of patients(P0.05).The marked efficacy rate was 74.3% and 40.0%,respectively.The effect was better in the pricking-cupping bloodletting plus electroacupuncture group than in the electroacupuncture group(P 0.05).Conclusion Pricking-cupping bloodletting plus electroacupuncture is an appropriate technique for past pain relief in the acute stage of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.
