The Relationship Between COX-2,MMP-2 Protein Expression and Cervix Neoplasm Metastasis

Objective To inestigate the expression of cyclooxygenase2(COX-2) and matrix metalloproteinase2(MMP-2) protein in cervix neoplasm,and to explore their relationship.Methods Immunohistochemical assay was used to detect the expression of COX-2 and MMP-2 protein in cancerous tissues from 57 cervix neoplasm patients and 13 normal cervix tissues. Results No marked expression of COX-2 and MMP-2 was observed in the normal cervix tissues.The positive rate of COX-2 and MMP-2 in cervix neoplasm was 66.7% and 54.4% respectively.There was significant relationship between MMP-2 and COX-2 protein expression and patients' FIGO stage and pathological grade(P0.05).The positive expression rates of COX-2 and MMP-2 were 76.7% and 70.0% respectively in the group with lymph node metastasis,while they were 48.1% and 44.4% respectively in the group without lymph node metastasis.There were significant differences in COX-2 and MMP-2 expression between the two groups(both P0.05).Conclusion The expression of COX-2 and MMP-2 could be used to estimate the metastasis potentiality and are helpful for the treatment.
