Abstract
Objective:To investigate expression and clinical significance of MMP-9 in squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, and explore the relationship with clinicopathologic features. Methods:Detecting the protein expression of MMP-9 in 20 cases of chronic cervicitis and 84 cases of cervical carcinoma by immunohistochemistry and analyzing the relationship between MMP-9 expression and clinical stages, carcinoma cell differentiation, lymph node metastasis. Results:The positive expression rate of MMP-9 protein in squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix(79.8%) was significantly higher than that in chronic cervicitis(10.0%)(P0.05).The protein expression rate in TNMⅠ(58.3%) was obviously lower than that in TNMⅡ(95.8%).The protein expression of MMP-9 in lymph node metastasis(88%) was higher than that in without lymph node metastasis(67.6%)(P0.05).Conclusions:MMP-9 express higher in squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix,MMP-9 may be associated with the infiltration and metastasis of cervical carcinoma and can be used for judging the prognosis of the patients with cervical cancer.
