Abstract

Objective: To explore how to improve the therapeutic effect and survival rate of the patients with cancer of the cervix at advanced stage. Methods: 49 cases of the patients with uterine cervix cancer at advanced stage, who were treated with both radiotherapy and chemical therapy, were enrolled as the study group(group A).The chemical therapy was conducted with only DDP intravenous drip 40mg each week for total 5~6 times. The radiotherapy was conducted with high dose rate of 60 Co combined with 192 Ir.Another 45 cases of uterine cervix cancer at advanced stage, who were treated only with radiotherapy, were enrolled as the control group(group B).Results: The 5 year surviving rate of group A was 57.8%,which was significantly higher than that of group B(40.5%),(P0.05).The both rates of leucocyte abating and gastro-intestinal reaction of group A were significantly higher than that of group B(P0.05).The major cause of death of both group was pelvic cavity recurrence of tumor. There was no difference in distant metastasis between two groups(P0.05).Conclusion: Radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy could significantly enhance the survival rate of the patients with uterine cervix cancer at advanced stage. The application of low dose of DDP is safe and feasible, though its side reaction is a little more than that of only radiotherapy, but the patient could bear it.
