Abstract
Objective To assess the accuracy of transabdominal sonography (TAS) and transvaginal sonography (TVS) in the diagnosis of tubal pregnancy. Methods It was a retrospective study of TVS and TAS findings of 44 patients diagnosed pathologically as tubal pregnancy. Results The direct sonographic features of tubal pregnancy were ring like or non specific adnexal masses. The diagnostic sensitivity of TAS was related to the size of the adnexal mass. There was no difference between TAS and TVS in the diagnosis of ruptured tubal pregnancy. TVS was more sensitive in the diagnosis of early unruptured tubal pregnancy. Conclusion TVS was better in the diagnosis of early tubal pregnancy than TAS.
