Effect of Huoluo Tongbi Decoction in Treating Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Abstract
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of Huoluo Tongbi Decoction on diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods: Fifty-six patients were randomized divided into treated group(n = 30)and control group(n =26) .The two groups were given insulin or oral use of drugs for decreasing blood-sugar level. Additionally, treated group was treated with Huoluo Tongbi Decoction (one dose per day)and control group with vitaminB1(100mg, im, qd)and vitaminB12(500μg, im.qd). The treatment course of two groups was 8 weeks. Results:The total effective rate was more significant in treated group(P 0.05); After treatment, nerve conduction velocity were improved significantly in both two groups(P0.05), but the improvement was more significant in treated group compare with control group(P0.01). Conclusion: Huoluo Tongbi Decoction, in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy, can not only improve its symptoms, but also significantly improve nerve conduction velocity, its effect is pleasing.
