Abstract
A research was made of the reaction of transesterification of cottonseed oil, using KOH as catalysts.Through orthogonal analysis of parameters in a four-factor and three-level test, the optimum conditions obtained for the transesterification are molar ratio of methanol to oil 6∶1,usage amount of KOH catalyst 1.1% and reaction temperature 45℃.The unreacted methanol was separated by atmospheric distillation and recycled to reuse for reaction. The reovery of glycerol is conducted by vacuum distillation. The properties of biodiesel fuel has a similar specification to diesel fuel from petroleum.
