Therapeutic value of trimetazidine on patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure

Objective To study the clinical therapeutic effect of trimetazidine (TMZ) on Dilated Cardiomyopathy(DCM) accompanied by moderate to sever congestive heart failure.Methods 46 patients with DCM accompanied by moderate to sever congestive heart failure were randomized into routine treated group and TMZ treated group(TMZ group), and the patients in TMZ group received TMZ(20 mg 3 times per day) for twenty weeks. All their grades of heart function, left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), left ventricular end-systolic diameter(LVEDs), left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDd) before and after treatment with TMZ was observed. Results The heart function grade of patients there were greatly improved in TMZ group(P0.05),LVEF was obviously increased(P0.01), the LVEDs and LVEDd were greatly reduced(P0.05, P0.01). Conclusion TMZ seems to improve the heart function of patients with DCM, and this method is worth being utilized.
