Abstract
Objective To study the features of obese students' serum lipids, and to provide bases for the prevention against obesity. Methods Serum lipid was measured in 88 obese children and 88 controls. The relationships with body weight, age and gender were also analyzed. Results The prevalence of abnormal serum lipids, high TC,high TG,high LDL-C,and HDL-C were 47.73%,29.55%,19.32%,19.32% and 5.68% in obesity group and 15.91%,1.14%,5.68%,2.27% and 9.09% in the control. The abnormal serum lipid,TC,TG and LDL-C were significantly different in the two groups. The mean value of HDL-C was significantly lower in the obesity(1.28 vs 1.46mmol/L).In obese children, the prevalence of abnormal serum lipids increased with body weight. Conclusion The obese students have obvious abnormal serum lipids such as high TC,TG and LDL-C.Body weight correlated with the degree of serum lipids disorder.
