Abstract
Objective To compare the serum lipid levels of children under different nutrition status and provide a theoretical basis for further developping early prevention of adulthood diseases. Methods Totally 447 children participated in height and weight measurements were classified into obese, overweight and normal-weight groups according to the Weight for Height. Then their serum lipid levels were determined in the HITACHI 7170 Automatic Biochemistry Analysis System. Results Obese children had higher TG and apoB levels and lower HDL and HDL/TC levels compared with overweight or normal-weight children ( P 0.05). There was no significant difference in other lipid indices such as TC, LDL-C, apo AI, LP (a) and LDL-C/HDL-C among three groups ( P 0.05). The abnormal TG prevalence of obese children was obviously higher than that of overweight and normal-weight children ( P 0.05). Childhood obesity degree was correlated positively with the TG, apoB levels and negatively with the HDL-C level. Conclusions The prevalence of abnormal serum lipid levels increases along with obesity degree in children, especially the TG level.
