Discourse Translation in a Register Equivalence Perspective

Abstract

In the process of discourse translation,translators should analyze not only ideational meanings of a discourse,but also textual meanings and interpersonal meanings from specific registers.The analysis on three elements of register will help translators understand both the source discourse and the target discourse and reduce pragmatic errors.Achieving the equivalence in ideational meaning and register between the source discourse and the target discourse will definitely make the target discourse more faithful to the source discourse.
