Abstract

There are different meanings about in different linguistic theory.Ever since Zellig Harris's first use of the term discourse in 1952,much attention has been paid to analysis with great achievement.Discourse analysis, independent from linguistic study, can be studied under different linguistic theories, and functional analysis possesses its own features and methods. As practice proves, functional analysis is one of the major components of the study of SFL theory and its development,in which the notion of language stratum, context and functional grammar analysis are applied in both oral and written analysis, through which we can investigate how language is used to construe experience and express meanings.
