Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between expression of COX-2 and VEGF and progression as well as, metastases of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: The expression of COX-2 and VEGF were detected in 40 oral squamous cell carcinoma patients by immunohistochemical staining. The relationship between expression of COX-2 and VEGF and progression as well as metastases of oral squamous cell carcinoma was evaluated. Results: Among 40 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma, 19 cases were positive for COX-2(47.5%), and 24 cases for VEGF(60%), respectively. The expression of COX-2 and VEGF were closely correlated with stage and lymph node metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinoma(P0.05). Conclusion: COX-2 and VEGF were involved in progression and metastases of oral squamous cell carcinoma. The expression of COX-2 and VEGF will be helpful to the diagnosis and treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma.
