Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of different doses of Monascus on blood lipid level in high-fat diet rats. Methods SD rats model of hyperlipidemia after 2 weeks, the rats were randomly divided into three group of 0.5,1.0,2.0 g/kg·BW,and set the model control group, the blank control group(5 groups,a total of 50),intervention for 28 days. The intervention group was daily gavaged with corresponding concentration of Monascus, model control group and blank control group were gavaged dose of NS.At the end of experiment, the inner canthus blood(not fast),the levels of serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) were measured. Results Before intervention, high fat feeding model group compared with normal control group, the level of TC,TG,LDL were increased, the difference was statistically significant(P 0.05),after the intervention,2.0 g/kg·BW dose group could reduce the level of serum TC(P0.05),but no statistical significance of 0.5g/kg·BW and1.0 g/kg·BW dose effect onserum TC(P0.05). Conclusion Monascus can reduce total cholesterol level of rats fed with high fat diet.
