Relationship Between Social Avoidance and Distress and Self-Consistency and Congruence Among Junior Middle School Students

Objective To study the condition of social avoidance and distress,self consistency and congruence of junior middle school students,and to probe into their relationship. Methods Four hundred and fifty-seven junior middle school students were examined by using SCCS and SAD. Results Among the junior middle school students,there were significant gender differences in self inconsistency and self stiffness(P0.05 or P0.01); there was no significant difference in self agility (P0.05); there were significant gender differences in social avoidance and distress according to single factor ANOVA (P0.05 or P0.01). Correlation and regression analysis showed that social avoidance and distress obviously affected self consistency and congruence. Conclusion Self consistency and congruence and social avoidance and distress of junior middle school students' have significant difference in sex. Self consistency and congruence obviously affected social avoidance and distress.
