Abstract

The mitotic index,micronucleus ratio and chromosome aberration ratio of Vicia faba root tip cells were detected by the micronucleus test technique and chromosome aberration assay with different concentrations of MH as mutagen.The results indicated that MH could decrease the mitotic index in Vicia faba root tip cells,induce higher ratios of either micronucleus or chromosome aberration to produce chromosomal segments,bridges and laggards.The cell mitotic index decreased when the concentration of MH increased in a certain range,however,the ratios of micronucleus and chromosome aberration could increase.The further increase of MH concentration would lead to a decrease of the chromosome aberration ratio which was still higher than that of the comparision group.
