Abstract
Objective To study the protective effect of ginger oils against hepatic fibrosis. Methods Rat model of hepatic fibrosis was reproduced by subcutaneous injection of carbon tetrachloride and used for study of anti-fibrotic effect of ginger oils. The serum levels of ALT, AST, TP and Alb were determined by colorimetry, and those of HA and LN by ELISA method. The morphology for acute liver injury and chronic hepatic fibrosis was studied by light microscopy. Results Treatment with ginger oils dramatically reduced the level of ALT (P0.05), AST (P0.01), HA (P 0.01) and LN (P0.01) in rats with carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic fibrosis. Moreover, the levels of TP and Alb were significantly increased with ginger oils (P0.01). Compared with the model group, ginger oils were shown to have suppressed the formation of pseudolobuli and deposition of collagen fibers in hepatic fibrosis rats. Conclusion Ginger oils could effectively reduce hepatic fibrosis in rats induced by carbon tetrachloride.
