OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and adverse reactions of mitarzaping vs.venlafaxine in the treatment of somatoform disorders.METHODS: In this control study,the patients with somatoform disorders were randomly assigned to receive either mirtazapine or venlafaxine for 8 weeks.The overall therapeutic efficacy was evaluated according to reduction rate of the total scores as assessed by Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD),and the safety was evaluated using TESS(Treatment Emergent Symptom scale).RESULTS: The patients treated with venlafaxine showed an excellently effective rate of 40.625% and effective rate of 84.375%,as compared with an excellently effective rate of 66.67% and an effective rate of 93.33% in the patients treated with mirtazapine.The rate of adverse reactions in the trial group was 46.875% in venlafaxine group and 16.67% in the mirtazapine group.CONCLUSION: Mirtazapine results is more effective but safer than venlafaxine in treating patients with somatoform disorders.
