Abstract

To study expression of bcl-2 gene in acute myeloid leukemia (AMD and its clinical significance, the bcl-2 gene expression level of 20 cases of AML was analyzed by RT-PCR. Results showed that expression of bcl-2 gene in cases of AML was generally higher than that of the control group, the level of bcl-2 in AML-M3 was lower than that of others of FAB subtype, and only 7 of 13 (53. 8%) bcl-2 versus 6 of 7 (85.5%) bcl-2-cases achieved remission. It was concluded that increased expression of bcl-2 in acute leukemia is associated with a poor initial response to chemotherapy.
