Abstract

Objective To determine the relationshi p between severity de gree of coronary lesions and hyperuricemia in elderly patients.Method s Serum c oncentration of uric acid was measured and other biochemical assessments such as serum level of Glucose,TG,TC,LDL-c,HDL-c were determined at a fasting state in 498 elderly patients who have undergone coronary angiography, and who classi fied into coronary heart disease(CHD)group(299)and normal control group(199).The relationship between the severity degree of coronary lesion s and seru m level of uric acid was analyzed by using linear correlation and multiple stepw ise regression.[WT6HZ]Results The serum level of uric acid in C HD group was significa ntly higher than that of normal coronary artery group(P0.01).The linear corre lation analysis showed serum level uric acid was significantly correlated with t he severity degree of coronary lesions.Correlation analysis results showed tha t serum uric acid level was positively and significantly related to Glucose,TG,LDL-c and body mass index(P0.05 or P0.01,respectively).The multiple stepwis e regression showed serum level of uric acid was an independently related factor of coronary lesionsConclusion Increased level of serum uric acid is a risk factor to CHD in the elderly.
