Abstract

The Wisconsin Idea was the thought that the university should serve the society,which was advocated by University of Wisconsin.It appeared such new changes as the following:remote of mode,diversification of system,refinement of object and marketization of content in the contemporary.The transformation development of local universities in China encountered the dilemma,such as the school-running orientation failing to highlight the professionalism and social responsibility,lack of faculty awareness ability of social service,inadequacy of depth and dynamics of university through government,enterprise,learning and research.The Wisconsin Idea had special reference to the transformation development of local universities.For them,it should locate the university as theteaching-service-oriented university;attach great importance to the university function of social service;carry out social activities vigorously,and broaden the field and ways of social continually;advocate teaching academicand service learningconcept,and strengthen the cultivation ofdouble-professional teachers.
