Integrated Development of Urban Mass Transit and Land Resources in Japan

The article analyses the successful experience in land resources development, urban mass transit construction and operation and the comprehensive development of the urban mass transit and the land resources in Japan. Japan is one of the most populous countries in the world. It adopts an urban development strategy with urban mass transit as the backbone and the public transport as the leading mode. The urban mass transit issue is successfully resolved thanks to the diversification of the main entity of the mass transit system construction and operation, the railway operators operating other trades at the same time and especially thanks to the integrated development of the urban mass transit and the land resources. So there is a coordinated development of urban economy, society, environment and communication.
