Abstract
Aim To investigate the relationship between the polymorphism of monoamine oxidase type B(MAO-B) gene intron 13 G/A and Parkinson's disease(PD) in Xinjiang Uygur and Han population, and research the relationship between the genotype of MAO-B gene and clinical feature. Methods PCR-restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism(RFLP) was used to detecte the polymorphism of MAO-B gene and the frequency distribution of genotype and allele in 241 PD patients(PD group)(including 95 Uygur and 146 Han) and 247 sex and age-matched healthy controls(control group)(including 104 Uygur and 143 Han). The clinical data of PD patients were collected and analyzed. Results ①There was no significant difference in the genotype and allele frequency distribution between PD group and the normal control group.②Divided by ethnic groups, there was no statistical difference in the genotype and allele frequency distribution between Uygur PD group and Uygur control group, between Han PD group and Han control group.③Divided by sex, neither males nor females, there was no significant difference in the genotype and allele frequency distribution between PD group and normal control group.④Divided by age of onset, there was no significant genotype and allele differences between the patients and the controls in the group less than 70 years old. However,in the group more than 70 years old,the distribution of genotype and allele frequency of the MAO-B gene had statistical difference among the patients and the controls.⑤There was no statistical difference in clinical feature between the three genotype in PD group. Conclusion The genotype AA and allele A of MAO-B was the risk factor of PD in the group more than 70 years old. There was no difference in clinical characteristic among the three genotypes in PD group.
