Abstract
Objective:It is to study the effect of fluvastatin on connective tissue growth factor(CTGF) in the renal tissue of diabetic rats and to explore the mechanism of fluvastatin in the renal protective effect. Methods:54 male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups: normal control group(N group),streptozotocin diabetic rats(D group),diabetic rats treated with fluvastatin(4 mg·kg-1·d-1)(F group). The diabetic rats models were induced by a single injection of streptozotocin(60 mg/kg)via coccygeal vein. The levels of blood glucose, plasma cholesterol, plasma creatinine, excretion of 24 h urinary protein and CTGF in the renal tissue were measured after 2,4,8 weeks of treatment. Results:24 h urinary protein, plasma cholesterol and expressions of CTGF in D group and F group were significantly increased than those in N group. They were decreased in F group after fluvastatin treatment than those in D group. Conclusion:The expressions of CTGF were highly increased in the renal tissue of diabetic rats.Fluvastatin has some renal protective effects in diabetic rats, partly through down-regulating the CTGF expressions.
