Abstract

Objective To examine the relationship between immunohistochemical expression of the proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and pathology grade in astrocytomas, to discuss the value of PCNA in astrocytoma prognosis estimation. Methods A SP immuohistochemical staining technique was under taken for detection the expression of PCNA in 101 astrocytomas, in which, 22 cases had specimen of varying pathology areas. Results The percents of PCNA positive labeling cells increased along with the growing of pathology grade in astrocytomas. Conclusion This study suggests that the determination of PCNA is an useful indicator for the astrocytomas prognosis estimation.
