Abstract

Objective To discuss the impact of breast density for the diagnosis of breast cancer in mammography. Methods 250 cases of breast cancer patients with completed data who had come to our department from January 2012 to December 2012were selected. Then the types of female's mammography normatively according to 4th edition of BI-RADS( Breast imaging reporting and data system) proposed by ACR( American college of radiology) were categorized. The data were also analyzed by combining with data of clinical pathological examination. Results Among these 250 cases of breast cancer patients,36 cases were fat type,100% compliance with the pathological diagnosis; 36 cases were small amounts of gland-type,96. 4% in line with the pathological diagnosis; 121 cases were large amounts of gland-type,70. 2% in line with the pathological diagnosis; 38 cases were compact type, only 55. 3% in line with the pathological diagnosis. With the increase in breast density, the accuracy of the diagnosis of breast cancer tested by mammography were declining and the difference was statistically significant( P 0. 01). Conclusion Preliminary screening with mammography and / or ultrasonography in consideration of breast density after clinical palpation were more economical and practical,in line with China's national conditions and were worthy of clinical application.
