Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significances of interlekin-6(IL-6) and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in patients with unstable angina pectoris(UAP).Methods 130 consecutive patients diagnosed as angina pectoris by coronary angiography were selected.Among them there were 64 patients with UAP and 66 patients with stable angina pectoris(SAP).The serum levels of IL-6 and hs-CRP were measured. Results The mean serum levels of fasting plasma glucose, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, smoking index, plasma IL-6,hs-CRP level and systolic blood pressure in UAP group were significantly higher than those in SAP group.Logistic regression analysis of the 7 outcome parameters revealed that serum levels of hs-CRP and IL-6 were positively correlated to UAP.Linear regression analysis showed that serum levels of hs-CRP and IL-6 were positively correlated with severity or areas of coronary artery stenosis and Gensini score, and serum level of hs-CRP was positively correlated to serum level of IL-6 in UAP patients. Conclusion Inflammatory factors IL-6 and hs-CRP may be independent risk factors for UAP.
