Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of simvastatin on the expression of platelet CD62P, peripheral blood monocytes and platelet CD40L in patients with unstable angina. Methods Sixty-eight patients with unstable angina were randomly divided into two groups: simvastatin treatment group (n=34) and routine treatment group(n=34). Changes in levels of platelet CD 62P,peripheral blood monocytes and platelet CD40L between pre-therapy and post-therapy (for 8 weeks) were assayed in the two groups. Results Levels of platelet CD62P, peripheral blood monocytes and platelet CD40L after simvastatin therapy were significantly lower than before (P 0. 05 or P 0. 01 ). Furthermore, their levels after simvastatin therapy were also significantly lower than after conventinal therapy ( P 0. 05 ). Conclusions These findings suggest that simvastatin can improve the funtion of platelet activation in patients with unstable angina and resist inflammation.
