The clinical analysis of endoscopic sinus surgery in treatment of 387 cases of chronic nasosinusitis and nasal polyps

Objective To explore the methods and curative effect of endoscopic sinus surgery(ESS)in treating chronic nasosinusitis and nasal polyps.Method To retrospectively analyse 387 cases of chronic nasosinusitis and nasal polyps,who were undergone ESS from August1995 to August 2004.Results 334 cases were cured after operating symptom of illness disappearing,the hole of nasal sinuses being opened well,the mucous of nasal sinuses recovering excellently and having no pus secretion,the cure rate is 86.3%;the rate of turning for the better is 9.1%;the total validity rate is 95.4%.15cases of recurrenc were operated for the second time.In this group no serous complication took place.Follow-up time lasted from 3months to 36months.Conclusion Endoscopic sinus surgical operations which provides excellent visual field,minor sufferings,accuracy and satisfactory consequence,has changed radically the condition treating the chronic nasosinusitis and nasal polyps formerly.
