Anti-tumor Effect of Artemether in CT-26 Colorectal Cancer Bearing BALB/c Mice

Abstract

Purpose To explore the anti-tumor effect of Artemether in CT-26 colorectal cancer bearing BALB/c mice. Methods Forty-eight BALB/c mice (24 male and 24 female) subcutaneous planted with CT-26 colorectal cancer cell (2×106) were randomly divided into 6 groups(8 mice in each): low dose group,33.3mg/kg; middle dose group,50mg/kg; high dose group,66.6mg/kg; Artemether 50mg/kg plus ferralia 1.5mg/kg; positive control group,DDP 5mg/kg; and blank control group,same volume of normal saline. All were administrated,excepted DDP intraperitoneally. Results Inhibitive rates of Artemether by oral at dosages of low,middle and high were 42.3%,51.4% and 52.0%,respectively. Conclusion Artemether is provided with anti-tumor effect to CT-26 colorectal cancer bearing mice at certain range of dosage. Combination of ferralia with Artemether plays an synergisticly inhibitive role.
