Clinical observation on treatment in 70 cases of CHF with captopril and metoprolol

OBJECTIVE To observe the clinical curative effect of metoprolol combined with captopril in treating the patients with chronic congestive heart failure.METHODS 70 cases were randomly divided into 2 groups:treatment group and control group,35 cases in each group;captopril,diuretic,digitalis and some other drugs were given to the patients in control group and treatment group,and in addition,metoprolol was applied in combination to the patients in treatment group;the observation lasted from 15 weeks on the improvement of heart function before and after treatment,including LVEDD,LVESD and LVEF;follow-up covered 8 months.RESULTS The total effective rate of treatment group was 82.85% while that of control group was 60%;the comparison between the 2 groups was significant difference(P﹤0.05);LVEDD and LVESD of both groups after treatment reduced obviously compared with those before treatment(P﹤0.05),but LVEF raised a lot(P﹤0.05).CONCLUSION Metoprolol combined with captopril can raise obviously the curative effect,improve symptoms and life quality,it can also reduce the sudden death rate and re-hospitalization rate.
