Abstract
Objective To study the influence of Azone on the percutaneous absorption of ibuprofen cream in vitro. Methods By using vertical Franz diffusion cells, transdermal diffusion test on ibuprofen cream without azone or with azone of different concentrations were carried out. Then the percentage of the cumulative permeation at different time period was attained, which was used to calculate the constant of diffusion rate. Results Transdermal diffusion rate of ibuprofen cream with 1-5%azone was significantly higher than that without azone(P0.01).The rate constants were 2.77,3.54,4.38,3.74 and 3.76h respectively corresponding to the concentrations of azone at 1%,2%,3%,4% and 5%.Conclusion Azone is proper for the use as transdermal enhancer in ibuprofen cream, with its best effect at the concentration of 3%.
